Laura has lived in Eagle County for over a decade and is a passionate volunteer amongst her community. She loves all aspects of the outdoors and is an avid traveler of near and far, always ready for the next adventure.
Laura has worked with ECCD for over 4 years promoting natural resource management and conservation through technical and financial assistance, program development and education & outreach. Be on the lookout for new projects, cost-shares and opportunities to get involved!
Allegra was born in Upstate New York, and has lived in various parts of Colorado since 2010 and in Eagle County since 2020. She has always been passionate about natural lands, and can usually be found running, climbing, skiing, or hiking in remote places.
Allegra has her BA in Biology from Colorado College, and she joined the ECCD team in 2022. Prior to working for ECCD, she worked on wildlife and resource conservation projects around the globe, as well as throughout all four corners of Colorado.
Greg Welsh (he/him) is the newest member of the ECCD team as the District Conservation Technician. Born in Delaware, Greg moved to Colorado in 2017 to study Natural Resources Management at Colorado State University (CSU).
He has worked on various conservation projects across the Front Range, primarily in grassland ecosystems. He is currently working on his master’s in Natural Resources Stewardship, focusing on ecological restoration. In his free time, Greg enjoys biking, skiing, and writing music.
Scott was born and raised a rancher here in Eagle County and even skis on occasion. He currently manages a ranch on the Colorado River Road raising hay and cattle. He is also a competitive team roper and darned good country swing dancer.
Scott became an Eagle County real estate broker in 1989 after some years managing various Vail restaurants and hotels. He opened his own firm in 2001. He and his family own the Brush Creek Ranch - dedicated to the enhancement of the ranch as working farm. Scott is an outdoor adventure enthusiast who enjoys cycling, mountaineering, winter sports and back country horseback trips.
Wendy has lived in the valley for over 30 years. She has been involved with many local charities and events and is a real estate developer and general contractor. Wendy currently lives on 35 acres North of Eagle where, when she is not traveling seeing the world, she raises hay and cares for her horses.
Shawn is an edapathologist who studies how living things interact with the soil. She runs a commercial compost facility in Wolcott and also owns a soil consulting business in Eagle. She in the process of transforming her tiny homestead into an edible landscape that demonstrates permaculture concepts in a small-scale urban environment. Shawn is passionate about supporting local food systems and regenerative soil practices that foster healthy communities.
Ken is most known around the valley as a bean counter as opposed to a bean grower but he is really a rancher at heart. Ken has lived in the valley for 25 years, doing accounting at his day job and spending most of his evenings and weekends ranching a small property in Gypsum, irrigating in the summer to grow grass to raising a few calves and sheep. He also still assists with the operation of his family’s cattle ranch in Raton, NM.
Jay moved to Eagle County in 1981 to open an automotive repair business in Eagle, Colorado. He has been hay farming a small acreage in Gypsum since 1991. Jay has been married for 38 years and has 3 children and two John Deere's.
Clayton is a 4th generation rancher here in Gypsum CO. He works alongside his father and sister on his family ranch where they run 500 mother cows on a cow calf operation and farm 1500 acres of hay.
