Ballot Measure A

The Eagle County Conservation District is a stand alone special district and relied on non-renewable grants to support its many programs. In order to sustain future funding, the Conservation District pursued a mill levy this past November with 68% in favor for.

Eagle County Conservation District Election: 

• ECCD conducted a mail ballot election in November, 2024.
• ECCD will levy a tax of 0.15 mills on the assessed value of all real property within the Eagle County Conservation District's boundaries.
• Average cost for a home valued at $1 million will be $10 annually
• A .15 mill levy will provide roughly  $645,000 annually for the Conservation District

How the money will be used: 

• Ensure adequate water supplies and maintain health of rivers & streams 
• Work with local landowners, water rights holders and ranchers to support more efficient water use
• Restore and protect forest and grassland health to reduce risk of wildfires
• Conserve native birds, fish and wildlife populations
• Restore habitat for pollinators
• Consult and advise local landowners on conservation planning and practices
• Advocate on behalf of land stewards
• Expand Beyond Lawn program 
• Maintain/continue all other existing programs
